GM Positive Battery Cables

Does anyone have a answer to the problem with GM and the positive battery cable and how easy the get corroded. I had a 2000 Jimmy and the positive cable corroded and had to be replaced after 3 years and 50k, now I have a 2001 Tahoe with 30k and the same thing is happening. GM does not make these cables cheap and the corrode so easy. Cuttting the wire and adding a new end would be OK if had enough extra wire. With the top posts you can clean them easy, but the side posts are not. Any ideas?

A guy that posts frequently at http://forums.vmag.com on the suburban board could probably help as he has changed his suburban to top posts(or put studs in a side post)
Here's the url to the board: http://forums.vmag.com/suvsuburban0103/
