2000 hood question

the 2000 imprezas have a cosmetic hood scoop and side vents that have metal plates bolted on underneath the hood. a few people i know seem to think with those plates unbolted and removed that water will get to the electrical parts and fry the whole car...

the only thing i see is the driver side vent is directly over the barrery and water might speed corosion on the terminals.

so, will having the plated removed cause any big problems with the car engine\electrical?

I have only the one over the battery closed... the hood scoop and the other hood vent is open... It keeps the engine a whole lot cooler than before... The thing about removing the one over the battery is the fact that the fuse box is right there too... So fuses getting shorted would be one big problem...

I've had both open for more than 6 months now with no problems at all, but I stay in pretty dry climates...

i had a 97 impreza sport wagon and i remember i had to bring it in on a recall, due to the water coming throught the hood scoop, one of the sensor went bad...i dont remember which one exactly, but i brought it in and they fixed the problem, and did something to keep it from happening again...free of cost...even if u bring it in now, its a recall they have to fix it...just a little food for thought
