Ah it's been a while since I've dabled with dot but from what i can remember dot ratings are the boiling points, freezing points, fluidity( if thats a word). The best I can do for the explanation of brake fluid is this... brake fluid needs to be able to have a high boiling point, low freezing point, lub the seals in the brake system ie. brake cylinders, and it will absorb water if the lid is left off for a long time. The higher the rating the better the fluid type.

Again I could be wrong but from what I can remember it's not a good idea to mix dot fluids, someone chime in here to correct me if I'm wrong. But it can't hurt to remove the old fluid and put new in just for preventative maintaince.

You can loosen the bleeder screw and allow it to gravity drain or pump it out but you will have to bleed the clutch after you put new fluid back in it.

DOT ratings are boiling points. Its never REALLY right to mix them, but for your clutch system, your fine.
