Car Won't Start

1999 Camaro - Son's car

Thieves stole the stereo system Wednesday night. They were caught and the stereo was recovered. I am in the process of reinstalling the head unit. I started the car and moved it in the driveway. Traced all of the wires and respliced them (I am a certified electronics tech, so I know they are right). Head unit works, but now car won't crank. All lights are on, fuel pump is working. The starter relay is good, and if I jump the starter relay terminals in the fuse box, the starter will turn over. When the key is turned, nothing happens. I accidently inserted the key from my 2001 Vette (key fobs look just alike), but it didn't go in far enough to touch the pellet.

I suspect the theft deterrent module. I am pretty sure I didn't touch anything that would affect this. Coincidense? I read on another forum to remove the black battery cable with the key in the on position, wait 10 minutes, and reinstall it.

Any ideas?
