Hello everyone, its been awhile since ive posted anything. I am just wondering what the pros and cons are for some underdrive pulleys for my 2000 silverado 4.8l shortbed reg. cab are. I am looking for more performance. I already have a KN FIPK, Powerprogramer, High Flow cats with flowmaster turbo mufflers duel exhaust, mass flow air sensor mod, and Nitto 450 Extreame Performance tires. So if anyone has any info on this or any other Ideas where to go next let me know.

Thanks

Most gain around 1-2 tenths in the quarter mile. I can't justify buying a new set, but if you could buy a set used, its a good finishing touch.

Slowprocess... it's been a while since I've seen any posts from you. Welcome back. I really want to drop a 6.0L in and have been very curious as to what it would take. I'm still a V6... What parts needed swapped and about what'd it cost you? I love my truck.. just really wanna haul ass. Was it worth it or would I be better off with a new truck? Thanks

What's up, brandon. Yeah, it's been awhile, but I finally made it back. On the swap from my 4.8L, every accessory swapped over from the 4.8L to the 6.0L. The only things I had to get, as far as the swap, were some bigger injectors(due to the fact that my 99 injectors weren't enough to feed the heads/cam 6.0L) and I upgraded to an 02 PCM(the 99 pcms tend to have trouble with knock retard after a swap. I'm not really sure what all you would have to get to do the swap. Your best bet would be to find a pullout out of a wrecked 2500, escalade, etc. When looking for a 6.0L, you need to look for an 01+ model. These models will bolt right up to a 4l60e transmission and have the aluminum heads. I can find out exactly what you would need to do a swap from a v6 to a 6.0L.

Cost... yeah, I went a pretty expensive route. Basics, I got the motor(less than 10,000 miles) for $950 shipped. It came from the pan to the heads. I got a friend to port/polish the heads, then carried them to a machine shop to get milled, then replaced the stock head gaskets with thinner gaskets, both of which raised the compression. The transmission was a pretty high priced item. It is fully built and can handle over 500hp. It came from TeamTripp.com. It was around $1900. Then, you get in to the actual mods(Thorleys, converter, cam, springs, etc.) Honestly, in all, I've probably dumped around $5000-6000 in it this summer. Not alot of money considering what just a supercharger costs these days. It all really depends on how crazy you get with it. :)

Is it worth it? Hell yeah!!! This thing is a freakin beast! You honestly wouldn't believe the power this thing has. If the slicks come in this week, I'm taking a trip to the track Saturday night. I can't run from a standstill right now, due to the horsepower, 3.73s, and stall. It's all over the road from 40mph and below.

That all sounds sweet. Where would I go to find out what all I'd need to go from 4.3 to 6.0? If you know that'd be awesome. You're pretty knowledgable. Thanks man.
