Another Aoshima S15 Silvia Aero In Progress

Kit arrived today and I have to say I'm impressed:
Chromed lights & brakes, seperate interior panels, front bumper moulded open, rear lights moulded in red/orange & so far fitment has been spot on so far. I've modified the front bumper slightly by cutting out the license plate and middle support and filling in the lower edge with Tamiya Epoxy Putty. The side skirts are from the recent SAS transkit (I think the SAS front bumper would also fit with only minor modification although the rear would require some cutting of the kit bumper).

Good progress so far.
You like the kit too, huh? It is a nice kit. I left my front bumper as is except for cutting out the side vents.
What color are you gonna do? I have some trouble deciding what color mine is going to be (which is unusual). I was leaning towards Silver Leaf.

Yep I think it's a vast improvement on the Fujimi kits - the drift series Sylvias' should be good too - like you I'm struggling to decide on a colour at the moment - perhaps Mica Blue ?
Cheers

It would be interesting to see a photo comparing the Fujimi and Aoshima kits?
Andy this is going to look cool! How about Yellow with black rims?

Coming along very nicely.
I have just had to swap both my Silvia kits for parts for my 1:1 Skyline so I've ordered more from HLJ, so it'll be a while before I get to work.
Oh well I watch yours instead :)

It may just be the angles of the pictures, but looking at the Aoshima versus the Fujimi it looks as if the Aoshima kit's greenhouse is overall bigger except shorter than the Fujimi's, and is more in line with the sides of the body than the Fujimi. The sides seem a little shorter, though.
Have to get some measurements to see which one is accurate, but the Aoshima looks a lot more correct. Good to see that they nailed the prettiest coupe in Japan.

A bit of progress on this one - the paints been polished out and lights etc fitted up. Thought I'd messed things up as although the instructions suggest adding the aero kit last but I always add it before the colour coat and suddenly realised that there might be a problem with fitting the front light unit. However panic over as you can just slide the unit in from inside the body and twist it into position. Just thought I'd mention it as a heads up for anybody building the kit. The rear lights come as 3 pre-coloured lenses although you have to paint the black surround yourself. All-in-all I'm pretty impressed witht the engineering of the kit so far and haven't come across any problems - anyway here's the pics of where I am currently.

That's coming along very well. You could outline the headlights with a black marker and that would enhance the realness NOI

I've never experienced any problems using Tamiya epoxy putty with resin - one of the things with resin it that it's "inert" and doesn't react with putty, paint etc. - hope that helps
