Got a couple brake problems

Alright first off I came home tonight and noticed that when I push the brake pedal it was squeaking as i got near all the way in, did the same when i was releasing, and twice there was a really loud high pitched sound when I was braking. Could I possibly need new pads up front? Also, this wouldnt be for some reason related to it raining all day? It's a thing that hasent ever happened in the rain before. Or any other suggestions?

Second, this is for my dad's car but I figured I'd give it a shot cuz I knwo from past experiance the hyundai forum is a joke haha. He told me that the past couple days he's been hearing a loud clunking sound when pushing/releasing the pedal. We've had nothing but horrible experiances with the dealer and he doesnt really wanna take it anywhere to get checked if possible, jus to save money. Anyone have any ideas?

How many miles on the car?? High pitched squeeling noises are usually caused from the wear indicator on the pads.

As for the clunking its hard to say. My car had the same kind of noise because one of my pads had seperated from the backing plate and kept shifting around.

Your best bet on your car is to pull off one of the front wheels and check the pad thickness and then take one wheel off the rear. Most 4 wheel disc brake cars wear front pads 2 -1 Ratio but for some reason the 4th Gen Camaro/firebirds tend to wear rear more .... And as for clunking. I have never had a experience with a clunking sound but then again I never owned a Hyundai.

Well then just check your front brakes

The clunk could actually be the caliper itself...sometimes the pistion in the caliper can get stuck and then give way making the pads contract on the rotor very quickly.
