I've had some starting issues with my eclipse 2000 manual transmission car for awhile now. It first happened 2 months ago when I tried to start but had a hard time. Eventually itll start and I've been driving around like this for awhile. My battery died one day so I replaced it but the problem still remained. Now after a week witht he new battery it wouldm't even try to start or crank, all i get is a humming noise. I know its not the battery. I'm thinking its the starter or the starter relay, maybe the connection to it but the problem is I don't know where they're located. :banghead: :banghead:

Could be the Distributor? Unfortunately, its like $500 so dont go out and buy one. Have a mechanic look at it, I'm sure he can find out whats wrong pretty fast. Good Luck

i didnt think our cars had distributor's. i thought we only had was the dual coils. if we have a distributor where is it? i have never seen a cap for it, and the plug wires dont look like they go to one.

ALTERNATOR my 89 ford taurus did the same thing, it is most likely the alternator you get a nice humm, no spark, and the battery goes very quickly

i agree with the alternator. my last car did the same exact thing. the humm is the bearing rubbing inside the alternator housing starting to go.

I tried starting it again today and I realized theres only a clicking sound. I went to the shell gas station to get it diagnosed and the mechanic theres says its the starter. Unfortunately 3.0 v6 starters are expensive so I had to order one on the net today for 186. I'll probably install it myself. I hoping this fixes it, if not, its probably the connection from the battery to the starter.
