shocks and knocking

I am very appreciative for these forums. The first trouble I had was knocking, when going up a hill or towing. I fixed this by cleaning the mass air flow sensor (on the intake tube). I got past the tamper screws by using plyers and the one I couldn't reach I drilled out the center tab carefully and then used the star bit. Clean the mass air flow with gas and a toothbrush. BE VERY CAREFULL IT IS FRAGILE. The next problem was the 10 year old front shocks seized and I stipped off the nut. Don't panic you just should have bought some nuts and bolts before you took charge. Cut the stud next to the frame with a sawz-all or disk grinder. Drill out with 1/2 sharp bit. I used 1/2 x 3" grade 8 bolts, 1-1/2 spacers, nuts and washers. The right side on my 94 4x4 needed a shorted bolt but I modified mine. Try a 2-1/2 but if that is too small you will be busy cutting the bolt and reaming out the hole. GRADE 8 BOLTS ARE STRONGER THAN ANYTHING ON THE TRUCK, USE THEM. Thanks for helping me and I hope I have helped someone
