I would go with a fresh 383 engine and probably a miniram depending on what rpm range you want the car to perform the best in.

I would say for a nice engine and some goods to help put that power to the ground your looking at maybe 8k???

Of course you could always just pickup an LS1 and drop that in there :D

Buy a Mustang :evillol:

Sorry I just had to it was too tempting.... some gears and and spray would do it. Or you could just buy an LT1 or an LS1 and put it into your 3rd Gen and let the lighter car do the rest.

well, if you got the 350, run vortec heads and SDPC baseplate, xtream energy cam, headers, stall and gears.

depending on where ya shop, that would run about......

500, 400, 350, 300, 150, 200 = 1900 bucks. and youd be running around 300-350hp, with the improoved drivetrain, you could keep up with a stock LS1. and thats worse case senario. you could probly spend less, primarily by getting junkyard vortecs instead of new ones.

i'm pretty sure that 3rd gens are actually the heaviest camaros, believe it or not...

nope, fourth gen camaros are heavier still. the camaros gradually got heavier every year, its an odd twist.

cheaper building materials = heavier cars... weird isnt it?

blows my mind. but ya know, after being in a few accidents, and seeing what happens to lighter cars, i like my tank :)

should i worry about replacing the exhasut along with the headers or is teh stock exhaust good enough for now???

Dober89

stock exhaust wont be any good if you want to keep up with an LS1

the GMMG system is 700 bucks, and will bolt right on, its designed for fourth gen camaros. although i dont know if i would recomend it for a V6, it might sound a bit like a fart can. not bein a dick, just honest. it will also fit third gen camaros with a little work i think.

I actualy think they make em for both third and fourth gens.
http://www.gmmginc.net/html/chamberedexhaust.html
They say them make em for 82 and up. Personaly I would get a good set of shorty headers, a couple good performance mufflers and a good exhaust guy to make true duals that exit just infront of the rear wheels, I just did that and it looks great, sounds better, and performs...well if you know me, I don't won't settle for anything but the best. Now as for the original topic, you can take a run of the mil 350 with the stock crank and rods, get a set of hyperutectic pistons, flat tops, a decent set of heads with 2.02/1.6 valves, a mild hyd/roller cam, roller rockers and such and probably beat a stock 2002 SS. comp cams extreme energy and Lunati have some great cams and a working mans price. oh yeah, induction, if you have TPI just keep it and use it, larger injectors, adjustable fuel pressure reg. and possibly a fuel pump, with a good chip. As for TBI, if you want to keep it, holley makes a great kit, or you can do what you want, go carbed, 750cfm should do ya, or after market EFI, most come capable of 400hp. Well that's my .02

:evillol: Well this is what i did and i stomp Ls1's and the 6's can not keep up either.First off it is going 2 cost about $8700. First find a good shop 2 balance u a good forged rod and crank set ,i used scat. Then get uour bored 30 to 40 over i went 30 over to lower risk overheating.Buy some good forged or hypereutectic pistons, about 10 to 1 compression, then u can burn high octain airplane fue.But be sure to mix it with a 2 to 1 mix of superunleaded,4 lub, because the apf is 2 dry.tThen buy agood set of heads, i got AFR heads{air flow research} with 202 intake and 160 exhaust valves, 210 intake runers.Comp cams 292 hydrolic cam with matching springs,Team G intake that works in the 2800 to8000 rpm range,3000 stall converter, turbo 400 trans with cheater valve body and shift kit. Elec. fuel pump, elec. fans,MSD 6AL ignition box,MSD distributor,750 speed demon carb. After that it is time to move to the rearend. I got a set of strang axles and a eaton posi differential with richmond 373 gears so it will still mph on the big end. And headers with 1 5/8 primaries with 3 inch collectors. Thats pretty much it and i'm putin 498 hp to the ground and run in th 11. 20's in the 1/4 mile at 132 mph. P.S. I dont even have juice yet but I plan on putin a sniper system on soon.

I would probably just get a used LS1 car for that money. They are out there. You could always drop a 6.0L in it. :grinyes:

Will the TPI intake match-up with Vortec heads? I was thinking of using Vortec heads and maybe just a set of SLP runners on my L98 TPI setup... but wasn't sure if the Vortec heads and TPI lower intake match...

No. You'd need to buy the Vortec TPI base from Scoggins Dickey. This manifold costs $400 and needs a good porting to flow well.
