2001 Ford F-250 XLT Crew Cab

If you had a choice between a 7.3 Powerstroke Diesel in this truck OR a Triton V-10 Which would you choose and why? I had an opportunity to get the diesel, but some have said the tranny's in some of them were bad.

Early E4ODs were not the best, but since the early '90s they are pretty good if you do not cook them.

I would take the 7.3L diesel without a second thought. The V-10 is THIRSTY! They have decent power, but not as good as the diesel, and they use more fuel. The v-10 is alos cheaper to fix/replace should something go wrong, but the diesels are VERY relaible.

I had this choice and ended up buying the powerstroke. I liked the dependability of the engine better than the v-10. Another thing to remember is the resale value of the truck. The deisel will stay much higher with miles, Trust me I know cause I just bought one.
