I have a 2002 GMC Yukon. At 37000 miles (1000 miles out of waranty) I had to replace the fuel pump.
Now only 10 thousand miles later I am having the same problems again.

Anyone else know of Fuel pump problems in the newer models of Yukon?

Thanks
Anna

Yes, I just hit 60,000 miles and my fuel pump failed. GMC wants $750 to replace. I called GMC corporate, complained about this issue and they offered a 50/50 split of repair. I accepted, but Im still convinced this is a manufacturing problem. Would love to know thw percentage of GMC fuel pumps that went bad for the 5.3 ltr engine.

Hi. FYI, there are a few threads on fuel pump failures.

fuel pumps are in the tank and made to run covered by fuel if you sre running the tank low all the time it may have something to do with it. by the way i just replaced the 1 in my 94 suburban, cost $40.oo at napa and a couple hours of my time.

:uhoh: Checked with Napa on a 2002 fuel pump: $286.00
You got off cheap, unless you meant the fuel filter, which is $40

I have a '97 Yukon with the 5.7L and had to replace the fuel pump this past summer. I had about 110k on it at the time. What happened was the impeller disintigrated, while I was doing 70 just North of Tyler, TX. The motor would run, but there was not fuel pressure. First time the mechanic had ever seen it happen. Just my two cents.

99 yukon with 108000 never had a problem yet and i am sure that i will after writing this. i change the filter every other oil change and i never run lower that a quarter tank. a little marvel oil doesn't hurt everyonce in a while either.
