I have a drivers side power window motor gone BADDDDD.

I want to replace it but when I call my salvage yard some sy that the motor and regulator has to be put in together. That the motor can't be seperated because they are riveted together. Another Salvage yard said they will sell me just the motor. I want to know if the motor can be changed alone. I know the procedure would be just using nuts & bolts in place of the rivets. But should this alter anything???? can anyone help me???????????

reply to this board and my email.

the factory motor is riveted to the regulator. They can be removed, and you use bolts/nuts to replace the rivets. The GM part is only sold as an assembly (motor and regulator) and costs about $80/unit. I'm not sure what your salvage yard is asking, but that's a lot of work to do again if you get another bad one.
