2001 Emergency Brakes, suburban

Hello, anyone help with these darn emergency brakes? I saw somewhere here an older post with a site for reasonable brake parts. I went to gmpartsdirect.com and could not find the emerg. brake shoes or the new clips.
This is really a frustrating thing with GM not backing their products. I love the burb but my Ford Explorer was a better truck frankly. I need this burb to tow our large boat and it makes me nervous not having emergency brakes. the transmission pawl is the only thing holding the boat on the ramp at times.

Look in the Silverado thread. Someone just posted the numbers you are looking for. Should be the same for both trucks. If not, at least it will give you a starting place to look.

I had made the normal mistake in typing the web address. Please use the following specifically. You will need the "S" following part in the address or you go to a similar site of much less help to you.

The part numbers for the parking shoe are: 88982875
and 88982879 for the new clip. Use the search engine on the site to find these parts quickly at great prices.

replaced the parking brake shoes on my 2001 Suburban- the GM part number for the shoes 88982875 included the 88982879 kit. Price on the shoes was $70.54 for the pair at the GM dealer, only other place that had the shoes was Car Quest- $90.

Only had 42,000 miles on this when I bought and the brake never held from day one. The brake shoes were actually pretty good, I probably could have adjusted them, put the spring kit on and went with it. I couldnt see how this spring kit is going to help much, just an extra tab to hold the shoe better I guess. Also put the rear disc pads on while I had it apart- "gold" set is around $50.00. Sub now has 62,000 miles.
Anyway, guess I am ready for my next hill or emergency now :sunglasse
