well i dont think you would need to do anything, celicas are driven by girls, and you shouldnt have any problem beating one.

Burned an Integra R very badly today & an Audi TT in a 3 way battle, the Audi was very close (respect due) but the Integra was dust. I think the Audi may have got it had the run been a little more twisty. man those things go. I`ve gotta agree with 91celicaSt, if youve got an older Integra.....bye bye.

All not some TT's are quattro. The one you beat was probably the 180hp version not the 225hp version. Good race though.

TT's are heavy! so why would even the 180hp keep up. Could it be because celicas have a low top speed? so do the TT's. TT's have more Torque?
nialusa
10-27-2004, 04:00 PM
top speed didnt come into it as we never got anywhere near top speed, Celica`s are a little on the heavy side too. I am suprized to see the wieght of a TT, its alot for a small car (Audi TT 1520kg) (Celica GT4 1675kg)

nialusa
10-28-2004, 05:09 PM
i`d rather have a Vette than a TT, I know very little about American cars (rented a Chrysler Sebring once, thats about as close s I got) but in the UK TT`s are considered hairdressers cars considering the other options that you can get here ie Porsches, mitsubishi`s, WRX Impreza`s. Supra`s, Focus RS`s, Cosworths, TVR`s, and now Holdens, the list goes on. for similar money you could get a RS4 Audi estate with 450+BHP as standard.

a shit i thought for a moment that you were driving the zzt not the st...try keeping the sig everywher that way i wont think its two defferent users. But if it is an st205 againts a TT, st205 all the way! even a zzt could take it.

As far as I'm aware of.. the only cobra that a gt-s can beat (stock for stock) is the 94-97 or so (the horizontal tail lights).

Are you sure it wasn't a crappy driver? Cuz I thought the newer Cobras could get really low 14's like flat 14 almost. Unless the GTS was modded, how could it beat the Cobra without the Cobra having a bad driver and the GTS having a fairly good driver?

I think you're thinking about the newer Mustang GT's (260hp). The newer Cobra's are supercharged and putting out 390hp. If I recall correctly, the newer cobras are low 13's material.

Whoever was driving that Type-R didn't push hard enough. I believe a stock S2000 or '05 RSX-S can beat a 2000 GTS with similar drivers. When it comes to NA 4 bangers no one can compete with Honda and it's V-tec.

Forget comparing the s2000 to a celica, completely different market, as for a type-r teg (RSX), in a straight line the Teg will beat the celica GTS no problems, with 40+BHP more or whatever it is its bound to win, but they handle like sh1t round the twisties, I`ve driven a couple and they are awfull to drive, I can beat them in my ten year old Celica no problem. As for saying noone can compete with Honda`s V-tec, the Toyota/Yamaha joint VVti system is pretty much the same just with more class, I`m not saying Honda`s system is bad cause its not, its a blindingly fast engine once it gets going, but never unnderestimate the underdog, Honda`s system has been around for around 20 years and its competitors have reached the same standard after only a few years of development. Honda`s engines may be good but thier cars handling sucks big time, pit a celica GTS against a teg or civic type-r on a circuit then give me the celica every time.

Here's a little comparison I found from Sport Compact Car magazine. The GT-S got 15.3@91mph. The guy must have been shifting at redline (7800rpms) instead of 8400rpms... this is crucial in order to land in lift on the 1-2 shift. I was able to get 14.7 @ 94.9mph in my stock GT-S.. the Type R was tested at 14.7 @ 95.2mph.

what i hate about numbers is that it can handle the slalom but not the 200ft skidpad and it always seems like the 200ft skidpad is a waste unless you're just doing circle track. Like a viper has a better skid pad than an elise and the elise has better stats on the slalom then the viper, but the slalom is where it seems to count on real tracks (ie. not circle round abouts, no offence to NASCAR fans)

I didn't know the Type-R and Prelude SH can produce .91G's and .90G's respectively on a 200ft skidpad. I used to think FF wouldn't even surpass .90G's period. I am also disappointed that the GT-S can only produce .84G's which is kinda of shameful for a Toyota sport compact coupe.

Actually, there are a few people at newcelica.org that have gotten .88-.89g's on the skidpad stock. Road and Track actually tested it at .87g's

88-89G's sound more like for a the latest Celica. Sometimes it baffles me when 3 different magazines or testers have 3 different statistics especially when it's the 0-60 or the 1/4 mile times. The quicker times, higher G's or even braking distance always come from the better or more experienced drivers.
