I have a 2004 mustang gt with 2 blizzaks on the rear. Is that going to get me through the winter? Opinions please. For those who get snow...

Well I dont have mine yet but the guy at the dealership asked me if I liked drifting...I told him Actually I love import drifting. He said good, cause when you buy this domestic you'll experience it every time it snows.

a good way to get used to drifting is to apply liberal amounts of vasoline to your rear tires. Then you can do it in a real car like a non lowered 93 integra LS with lots of interior goodies

Why don't you apply liberal amounts of vasoline to your ass and sit on a cactus.

LMFAO!!
93 Integra engine options.
1.8L 140 hp I4
1.7L 160 hp I4
Yep, that's a REAL car. Also, isn't the Integra FWD? How can you drift in a front wheel drive vehicle?

Actually, sadly, there are many honda owners who "drift" when actually it is jus crappy sideways action due to methods like the vaseline. And yes it is fwd. True ownage. Im going to second the cactus idea. Then make a thread, and remember it will be worthless without pics.

winter ..driving in snow?? What's that about?
The coldest winter gets here in Florida is about 45F.
The only thing i'm worried about is if my heater and defrosters work properly. :bigthumb:

I drive in the snow all the time,
You flat dont get traction, ever, no matter what you use for tires.
Unless you get down to pavement your tractions sucks, plain and simple.
Dont try going up hills unless you have enough speed, if you need to accelerate up a hill, find a different route, you wont make it. All stops become rolling stops, once you stop getting the car going again is not an easy task, especially with a stick. All that torque that makes mustangs good off the line makes them suck hard in the snow.
Find a route with the minimum of stops, time the stop lights so you dont have to stop at them. If it looks like your gonna hit a light find somewhere to turn before you get there, especially if your gonna have to stop going up a hill.
Just remember above all, keep the car moving (not to fast though, stopping is just as bad). Inertia is your friend in the snow.
If it is at all possible drive something else or get a ride with someone if the roads are snow packed, but if you must drive on snow packed roads, I have found the above to be useful in keeping yourself from getting stuck.
For reference I have got stuck in one inch of snow in a flat parking lot, dont stop =)

I bought my car last December in Denver, CO while visiting family. Holy $h!t. I have never had so much fun in my life! However, on the other hand it can suck ass. "Kulak" mentioned going uphill, but not too much about downhill. I was on a really, really little slope on my parents street with about 2 in of snow going at best 2 mph.....i could not stop! I tried riding the brakes, clutch, everything, nothing worked. I grew up in CO so i am more than used to driving in snow but with my mustang it gets old really quick. On the other hand my punk-ass friend with his wife's kia could swerve back and forth and go 30 mph laughing at me. Its a sad day when a kia can beat a mustang......puts gun in mouth.

I've driven my 1995 mustang in a harsh canadian winter with only 2 rear studded tires and about 200lbs of sand bags, and i didn't have a single problem with it, you can't, however, drive like you do in the summer, but if you know what ur doing, corners can be real fun!

ya i drive mine in the winter as long as you can stop then your fine turnign istn a problem if you jus keep it slow and snad bags are a HUGE plus jus dont drive it in a blizzard and snow doenst stay on the roads too long so youll be fine jus drive only wehn necessary

Hmm, just bought a stang, winter is coming, snow likes chicago....this all seems to add up to me needing to hit up the hardware store for some sandbags...

I'll just say this...it's an experience. Make sure u know how to correct the car when it slides one way, you'll be driving like that the whole time.
It's great fun tho :)

i think geting my lisecne last december was a good thing, becuase i took it out to a parking lot{empty} with my older brother and we did our share of dounghts, drifting{95 gt/2000prelude} but i learned how to correct her. and when u loose control u still have control its jstu diff, like a boat. and then when summer hit and i got a buddy in the car and u peal otu around truns to impress the buddy/ladies/etc. i new what i had to do basically to not hit the tree.
