I understand exactly what you are getting at. The chances of it happening are impossible to predict, as the effects of our actions today will echo for generations to come - long after we are all dead.

I think that with all of our effort and time saving modern living conveniences, we will eventually be able to focus on minimising their impact on the world around us.

The first thing that HAS to change is world government. Nearly every important government on earth cannot see beyond their next 4 years in office. Solve that and there's a chance.

For the most part no. 2/3's of the people are living in poverty, look at Africa and Asia. Those people are barely surviving, and many are starving and dieing. The reason for this is because of exploitation and greed.

No, in the future we will always find new sources of fuel and material.

I think so, the most happy people live the simpliest lives. The Amish people are the happiest people out there, because they are not materialistic. These rules and laws only limit people to who they can be and what they do.

I think we are biologically machines right now. We do our task that benefit others, get money for it. And we spend it so that other people may do their tasks.

In this day and age to survive, and be happy because it's the social norm. Yes it is necessary. But if we were to live in tribal communities it wouldn't be, and I think we'd be happier people if it were the old times.

I doubt that we weill cause the destruction of our planet, but we are going to cause the extinction of a vast number of species before we get over our rape the planet for resources fetish.

There is promising technology on the horizon, though, that could easily solve a lot of the problems faced by most of the world, aka not "first world" countries. Like Oz said, it's just a matter of govermental awareness, which demands awareness and knowledge by the voting population.

We can certainly cause damage to ourselves, but the planet can laugh off anything we do to it. It has time - lots and lots of time.

The Earth has plenty of time, but remember that humans are a lot more vunerable to the toxins, pollution, and waste of natural resources they produce than a lump of rocks and water.

This is deep, but since I probably won't be here in a few years, than I'm not all that bothered. I do see what you are saying however. If we ase so lazy that we want a machine to do everything for us, and automate everything for maximum efficiency with minimal waste, then where does it leave us. What are we going to do to earn money and occupy ourselves?

We are only a little more than 200 years removed from the Industrial Revolution. We will move to a more eviormentally stable way of getting things down but it takes time. The wide speard use of oil has only been going on since the early 1900's when the British navy moved to petrol based ships.

I don't think we have made life easier for ourselves at all. The amount of decisions that the everyday man/woman makes are infinitly more complex than what was expected 300 yrs ago. I imagine that we will move to a more simple way of life in the next hundred yrs or so years.

As far as the ozone and pollution the earth will naturally clean it's self even if that means the death of a large number of people it will find a way to fix that.
