PIAA 1400 Clear Fogs

Just installed these today. They are not properly aimed yet, but so far seem like a good light. They're really small too, so you can mount them easily. I hooked them up to the first switch on my new switch panel and it works great! These lights should really help me see at night without being too bright for oncoming traffic. They are definately far superior to the factory fogs.

How do you like the clears vs. the ion crystal? Have you compared their reflection vs. your IPF yellows?

Well, I've had a terrible time getting all my lights aimed right so I can't say for sure, but I really got the clears to serve a different purpose. I wanted extra white light on dry nights that would be low and not offensive to oncoming driver's while improving my vision. As it turns out, they also seem to work well in the rain. The IPF's work best in the rain when I have the fog and driver on, strangely. Really kicks ass that way! Wouldn't think the high driver beam would help, but it does. Unfortunately, oncoming drivers don't care much for that setup. The IPF's and PIAAs together are pretty sweet too. I dunno; the beauty of this setup is that I can change my lighting many different ways according to the conditions, lighting needs, and the pavement.

One thing I did notice is that the IPF's have a much sharper cutoff top and bottom than the PIAA's The PIAA's are very hard to aim because the light spread is very wide and tall. Infact, I thought I had them upside down at first because the beam was lighting up pretty high. THe IPF's are wide, but don't have a lot of height so they are easier to adjust. When I turn ont he IPF's against a wall the beam lights up an area about 10" high, and the PIAA's light up atleast 2 feet of area (height).

Anyway, the main thing with the PIAAs is that they really help light up the side of the road. A couple weeks ago I nearly drove into the concrete barrier on highway 18 because I couldn't see it without my fog lights on (there was oncoming traffic). The factory lights just don't have any spread at all and even the tiny little spot they create in front of me is pathetic at best, so every little bit extra helps.

If you're nice, I'll let you paly with the lights some night. It's amazing how much of a difference they make and I really don't have anything high powered or offensive.

Oh, and when i turn everything on it's almost like driving in the daylight! :D

I like the lights Chuck...that driveway looks familiar. While at Chez Rick's we took a drive over to a 4x4 store near by. I was amazed to see The Hella 500's for 69.95 !. Up here you pay through the nose...

So on my next visit to see Rick I know what I am installing.

Yeah I know I almost have a complex that my only mod so far is my rear Swaybars off. But I guess mortgage and all beggars can't be......ahhh it will come.

Thanks Xlax! My truck has been spending a lot of time in that driveway lately. RRdstarr is a bad influence. must save money!

Yeah, you can pick up Hellas pretty cheap around here. You can never have too many lights! :D I've got a rear fog to install too and I'm relocating my Nissan fogs to the rear to use as backup lights...atleast for now. I have no idea where the hell I'm going to put them though! Might have to hang them below the bumper. They'll probably get removed there, but atleast they're cheap!

I'm trying very hard to avoid putting lights on my roof. I absolutely refuse to have wires running down through my doors or anything and I'm a bit reluctant to drill a hole in the roof.
