Would it be better to buy a GST with a turbo already or buy a nice GS /RS and put a turbo in it? And which is better GS or RS? Thanks

from what i've learned i think the GST's have different, more powerful engines than the GS and RS. speaking of the GS and RS, there mechanical specs are exactly the same, only differnce between the 2 is that the GS have :frown: fog lights, power windows and locks, side skirts, 4 wheel disc brakes, ABS and leather interior sometimes i think, i learned all this shit first hand..... :crying:

ive seen a 9 second RS before. I think its hahnracecraft or something like that that makes full kits that have the internals, clutch, ehxuats, turbo, IC, everything in like 5 stages.

yea but its too much work and money, way easier to do it on a turbo dsm.

yeah, but for 9 seconds you have to comp[letely buoild the 4G63 anyways right? so if the NT is cheaper then thats thew route Id go if OI was shooting for sub 10 second times, if not, then I wouldnt wory and if I dont makew secnse, Fit I yhad too much liquid cou8irage right now so I dont eveny care.

They bolth have advantages and disadvantages. Like a gs/rs will be cheaper in the same condition as a gs-t/x and it will also have lower insurance costs.

But it is harder to make it as fast. Like in a gs-t/x you can make ~400hp with reltive ease and reltive low cost. With a gs/rs it will cost you time and labor for the turbo kit, You can reatch in the 13's with a stage II hahn kit that requires no internal engine work. Beond that you will need engine work.

A gs-t/x or a rs/gs + turbo kit should be roughly the same cost if they are in the same condition. Maybe the rs/gs + turbo kit will cost alittle more (probly not more then a gsx though) but with the lower insurance costs it will save you in the long run.

I guess ask your self 3 questions, How fast do i want to go? What cars are avaible in my area¿ How much work do i want to put into the car¿

Speaking of insurance, I quoted a 99 GST and it was 2000 for 6 months, I was pretty bumbed i can't afford that but i then quoted a 97 GSX/GST and it was 725 WTF??? same car???

probably cuz the 97 ids over 5 years old or some crap they have in their policies like that, they figure once a cars so old its value has depreciated a good deal so they can insure it for less. or was this liability only?

dsmtrader, dsmtuners classifieds, ebay, local paper...

There is no way in hell turboing an RS/GS/ESi will ever be cheaper than buying a TSI/GSX/GST in the first place.

Im just going from prices Ive seen around here and the differences between the models. I can get a fairly nice low mileage NT for a good deal but I have to spend at leats a few G's more to find a GST/GSX and they always have way more wear and tear and tons more miles. so I can get a nicer car for a few thou cheaper and then add a turbo and be cheaper. cars pre pricey up here though especialy for anything highly desirable like the GST/GSX. even checked out the TSI/tSI AWD just in case it was the TFTF craze or whatever and kids only knew the eclipse name and nothing about the actual car or anything but turned out to be the same deal.

Yeah ebay has alot of good stuff for cheap, i got most of mine from there. Just have to use common sence and read carefuly before you buy.

I said it might be about the same cost joe, I dont know this for sure but i will look it up on kelly blue book in a few hours. But i know for sure it is cheaper in the long run due to insurance, I pay $33 a month for insurance on my non-turbo-turbo. How much do you pay?

anybody in washington, go honk for vern fonk, I have 9 speeding tickets, DWLS?R of the 3rd, no proof of INS, too fast for conditions, minor DUI, and a comprehensive claim for almost 4k worth of commercial mailboxes and I only pay 130 a month liability.

yeah, when financing a car full coverage is required, unless you go to a bank for just a personal loan or a line of credit and not an auto loan
