ok, my motor's gotta go, its got about 260,000km on it, so, im not sure what to do...if i go SOHC, SOHC VTEC, or ZC i want to go turbo, and i can get a deal on a SOHC with tranny and ecu for about $200 cdn from my friend whos doing a B16A swap. This stuffs got about 100000km on it, so i will have a good motor and enough $$ for a turbo. All this will equal about the same as a B16A swap $$ wise. However, i will have to move the battery to the trunk (who makes a good kit for this, and a how to?) so my handling will be about the same. If i get a SOHC VTEC or ZC i will have to wait on the turbo, so i will still be slow for awhile, or will i...ive been toying with this all winter while saving my $$ so please, someone make up my mind for me!!

I say go for the b16 swap. It may not be as cheap as a ZC, but you get 30hp more, vtec, and tons more aftermarket support.

i would have to agree i have been thinking about this same question and the b16a may be more exspensive but you will always have aftermarket support and you will never walk into a shop asking for parts for your zc and they look at you like  aoh and the b16a is the best engine ever made my honda :D

Go B16, it's a great engine, you won't regret it.

I agree with the above sentiments. Definately go B16A. Definately worth it - you won't regret it. Besides... then you can say "I've got a B16A - big plans for it!" Rather than saying "It's a SOHC VTEC... but it's worked.."

No mention of the B18? If I was doing a B16 swap, i'd go the B18 instead and then turbo it. My thoughts would be ZC followed by B18.

in canada, things are expensive, like b18s. now thats a really good idea, and id probably smoke alot of stuff out there, b18s run about twice as much as a b16....

yeah so go with the b16a b/c the b18 isn't worth it unless you are gonna turbo

Erm, I think he means B18C1. 1.8L DOHC VTEC - somewhat better than a B16A.

B16a easier swap and you can find good deals on them if you look hard enough. there are tons of aftermarket parts for them

B18A 1.8L DOHC Non-Vtec that is still hella fast, and should cost alot less then the B18B/C

Than a B18? Swap difficulty is about the same as they both use custom mounts :) Certainly not easier than a ZC which bolts straight in.

If I was doing a build and money was an issue, I'd go the non-VTEC B18 and then drop a turbo onto it. It would eat a VTEC based on torque alone in this config.

I love the B16A, but it's weak in torque and has nowhere near the pulling power of a B18 VTEC or ZC turbo or B18 turbo.
