Sorry everyone for not introducing myself. I kinda just jumped right in. I have been looking on for a while and just got around to registering.A lot of good information floating around and a lot of smart people here.
As far as me, I am a truck nut. I love 4x4's especially but like all trucks. I have owned Fords and Chevy's and have worked on them all. I worked in a 4 wheel drive shop for 9 years and was the head of special projects.
W did everything from gearchanges, motor rebuilds, and most everything in between.
Glad to share info with everyone and have already use info found here.

So I was supposed to introduce myself when I registered? I'm sorry too, but i't alittle late for me i'm past the newbie status. I just jumped right in giving info like i'm some mechanical master. Well don't I feel like a rude ratty ass basturd now. Oh and I will let you in on a secret, I'm not really a master mechanic. I'm a regular doofus that is too cheap to pay someone to fix my constantly breaking Chevy's (1968 SS396 El camino, 1985 IROQ-Z w/TPI, and the break down king 1998 Z71 K1500, and my 1979 C20 which never breaks down w/520,000 miles on it)

Don't be jealous I spent all my teenage years and well into twenty's restoreing this car, and $15,000 in parts, paint, and even a new frame. I hit a oil production rig ty down eye bolt (it's a 7 foot 1 1/4 inch dia. hardend steel buried in 10 feet of concrete) the engine cross member support hit the eyebolt and stopped me instantly and bent the frame down ward from the firewall to the grill. And of course the fenders folded. I am lucky the SS hood was not damaged, good luck finding a original 1968 SS chevelle / El camino hood.So what I'm trying to say is I worked my ass off for this, you know how long it takes a teenager to make $15,000? 7 years for me. I had to spend alot of the earnings on my useless college education... yea Electronic engineering sounds cool, but it's not! Dime a dozen for these highly trained tech's. I made more money working at Union 76 gas station.

Isn't electronics boring as hell? I like mechanical work way better, but I don't do either now (for carreeer work that is) I work for the LAcoFD as a utilityman , only 10 days a month and full benifites (same as the firemen, and fire engine mechanics) and I have a C-10 licsence for side work which pays great. I keep the county job for the pension I will get. (god knows I can't save a dollar for future) I live for the present not past or future. oh and thks about the concern with the Camino , but this happened in 1992 .It's been fixed for over ten years. Everyone wants that hood, I get offers for $1000, $1500. no orignals out there for some reason. Drivinng a totally cherry 68 SS camino and some people want to buy it right there on the spot. Like I'm gonna say "sure unbolt it" "and dont forget the chrome louver plates that are also hard to find"

hey, i kinda of jumped into this forum too and didn't give any info about what i've done to give advice. i've been mostly in the grand prix forum because that's my daily ride right now. well anyways, i've got a 89 chevy silverado too and i've done all the work on it ever since i took it off my father's hands so, i'm pretty comfortable about info on it. i took a diesel mechanics course but, didn't pursue it, and i'm in my 1st year of electical engineering, so i'm pretty comfortable in wiring and computer problems like Mikado14. i also worked at mechanical shop for couple years fixing mostly chevy trucks. i'm not an expert or anything, but i can tell you what i think will help solve a problem. well anyways, just wanted to let everyone to know what i can do since i like to solve problems and make horsepower on side to make life sweetr.
