I bought my GP at around 77k miles and it's now turning 80. I was wondering if there was any type of scheduled maintenance I should be doing. The dealer hadn't even replaced the air filter, which was filthy and making my gas mileage shitty. Any recommendations are appreciated. Oh yea its a 99' 3.8L n/a

What kind of GP is it?

I'm sorry, I just read your listing again. Long day.
If it was mine, I would flash trans, and change filter. Check plug wires, and pull a couple plugs. AIR FILTER, gas filter. Pull cap and see how your coolant is doing. I know you have already changed oil and filter. Open your manual and check GM's list. By the sounds of it, the guy that owned the car before you didn't do too much. May want to start at page one and check.

i'd check suspension: struts f/r, jack the car up check the ball joints and tie-rods. i do alot of travelling and i just like to be sure that i don't standed some where's with a broken tie rod or something. happened a couple of times and end up paying 10 times the amount if i did it myself.
check brake lines and hoses.

Sounds like I'm an motor guy and your a suspension guy. Think we have him checking the whole car. I'm waiting for Big-L, Cass and GTP-Dad. They'll get the rest.

make sure you change your trans filter. DON'T do a complete fluid flush, just change the filter and the fluid in the pan. Follow the advice above and you should be good.

I'd also suggest using "GM top engine cleaner" or BG engine cleaner in it. Some BG44k to clean the injectors and fuel system will also help. PCV valve should be changed, and look over your belt for cracking or pitting.

PCV valve should be changed
Dont really need to buy a new one, just use some carb cleaner and spray it out.Saves you a few bucks towards the other parts

Joe,
Going with BIG-L on that one. I just had top half of the motor cleaned. $100.00. Got a list of everything I had to do after. Could get the same thing with a can of gas treament and a can of carb cleaner. And when the list starts with, "The white smoke is normal. And should end in a few mins." Have never seen that on a can of gas treatment.
I know it's something that "should" be done. But I won't.
