hey guys, I blew the ex motor in my civic- so i need a new one. I have to get an ex tho- i just bought the greddy turbo kit before i blew the motor. I found a motor with 29,000 miles and i want to buy it, only it's got an auto tranny- will my rebuilt stock tranny and ACT clutch fit onto the block/ or do i need to find a 5 speed motor. just wondering- went through hell with my friends mitsu over this- i don't want the hassle. please help. thanks

any D engine trans should bolt up to any D block same for B engines B16 B18... bolt up to only the trans made for the B engines
so if your replacing your EX engine with a newer or older EX engine the trans should bolt right up

i'm understanding what you all are saying- but if it will work, do i need to buy parts, or is it not worth trying, and i might as well look for the d16 motor and 5 speed tranny all in one?- tough, cuz i hust had my tranny rebuilt, would like to keep it along with a low mileage motor- but what you guys say is gospel- so i follow.

LOL- it's kind of funny, but I was in brewster NY, and we were on this 2 lane highway, and it was late, and a neon pulled up to me. we stopped, and we started, and he took me off the line, but i took the race from there- but, in the process i threw a rod bearing. I later found out his neon had venom, and an intake, and apexi n1 exhaust- not too bad for an ex with intake and exhaust....i thought, till i blew the motor.

my car had 122,000 miles onit, and the guy i bouht itfrom pu in a chip, and my shift light was set at 8000rpm's for this race....but i tink i may have pushed it over..i was too into the race to realize...bad judgement. then i heard heavy knock wheni slowed down. my dad said i threw a rod bearing or a wrist pin. so,new motor time i guess.:(

yes you can use the block with the auto tranny on it.....you just need the fly wheel from the manual....

Redline is 7200, but when you take it past 8K, the engine seems to blow up for some reason.
