Brakes?!

Just wanted to pass on alittle something that has plagued my 2000 Xj since the first day I bought her. BRAKES! I could stop, but not that well in emergancies. Yesterday, at 93K, I finally changed the original rotors out with Bendix rotors ($64 a peice), running carbon metallic pads. Also went through and replaced both hub bearing assemblies. ( Yes, entire assembly, these are a sealed unit on the 00). Now there is almost no frontend noise, outised of the fact that I'm running BFG A/T KO's, braking is much better. On visual inspection(old to new) the rotors weren't too differant, never warped). I had a while back changed out both calipers. Hope this helps some one out. Total cost: $64/rotors (each), $115/ hub bearing assembly/each(BCA). Grand total of $358, plus the $3.00 I spent at the auto hobby shop on base. Oh, also, the hub assemblies DO NOT require ANY special tool for removal just a 12 pt 13mm 1/2 drive socket. After you break the axle nut loose(impact gun). :smokin:

Thanks for the info, I plan on replacing my driver side hub soon. I could have done it when I replaced my axle shaft U-joints, but I was running short of money and time. 115 bucks, that's do-able:) I never priced them and thought they would cost twice as much. You're right, it's an easy job (as long as you don't live in Michigan) 2 caliper bolts, 1 axle nut, and 3- 12pt 13mm hub bolts (since rust is a problem here, I put Anti-sease on the hub before I put it back in).
