10-15-2004, 01:21 AM
what do zip ties and drift machines have to do with each other? When a friend was installing a k&n cone air filter in my 240, instead of using screws to keep it connected to the MAF adapter he ziptied it shut. Told me it's not a real 240 unless it's ziptied. Anyone know why? Is it b/c it's quick and easy to fix a damage from drifting?

it was only a matter of time before someone said that.
i think we should have a new rule in OT. if you think something is photoshopped, and care to post so, you must provide proof as to WHY you think it's photoshopped. just because you don't know what car it is and care to protect your stumped-ness is not reason enough to post "it's a PS".
who the fuck would photo shop a picture of an old car purely to stump a bunch of people on the internet? yeesh...i don't see how that picture is photoshopped in any way shape or form.

I'm not stumped, frankly I could care less what kinda of car it is. Look at the roof like, to me it looks crooked as if someone photoshoped it. If it's not photoshoped oh well, doesn't bother me to admit I was wrong.

well, considering the number of times I've spoken out on exactly this subject in this forum, you shouldn't be surprised. Not everyone belongs to the graphically altered generation, and as Suislide points out, there wouldn't be much point in making such a challenge unwinnable.I am getting bored beyond a joke by those people who think they are impressing people by yelling 'fake' every time they cant come up with the correct and logical answer.

what do zip ties and drift machines have to do with each other?
All REAL drift machines have zip ties. They will break before what they are tying breaks. Saves a hell of a lot on repairs.
I was jokingly referring to the car in that it has no zip ties so it must not be a drift machine..... Zheesh.

Nope......Dad finally picked it up last month. He's been haunting the owner for quite a while. Mechanically,it's very sound, the body panels are mainly aluminium, but the wooden framing for the body is virtualy gone. He's planning on having it back to original body condition by August, and reconditioning the mechanicals after that.
He's thrilled with it,the only other complete and running example is a fully restored museum exhibit at the Coventry Motor Museum.

A Hillman and a 1935 Riley are not even close to being the same car - Rootes wouldn't own Riley for many more years...
When Taranaki stated that riley was close, he really confused me, sure the fenders look "Riley-ish) but the louvres, cowl, and the top of the hood are totally uncharacteristic of any 1930's Riley.
Since nobody correctly guessed, who goes next?
Speaking of Auburn, one my mother's friend's father's Cord is in the Auburn museum, his father bought it new in Indiana and his family sold it to the museum after he died.
