2001 Buick Regal - Grinding noise when turning

WHen you turn "hard" to the left or right, the car makes a "grinding" noise. returned to dealer, They said "there is a oil filter cap that was not closed when you had your oil changed." So, they "fixed" it only for it to start doing again the next week. Returned to dealer, they reclosed the cap, same problem.

Express Oil Change Centers here in Alabama told me that they had never heard of a "oil filter cap" on a 2001 REgal. They thought it was the CV joints or the rack n pinion.

HAs anyone else has this problem?

Nothing like you describe sorry.
I've had grinding noises turning right (97 Regal GS) at low speed it was the starter.
Turning left felt like grinding and loss of power was the rack (recall)

Experienced similar on my wife's 2001 Regal - distinct scraping and grinding sounds at lower speeds on full or near to full lock.

Mechanic in local shop fixed it saying that a deflector in the right wheel well had come loose.

Problem cured for very few $$$ and has never returned.
