question:
just out of curiosity, i'm not a ford or chevy enthusiast so go easy with me on this question. i'm wondering will the new 400 hp 2005 corvette c6 be able to beat the 500 hp 2005 mustang gt? like i said i know nothing about either of these cars. if it cant.what will it take for it to actually beat it.are there any upgrades that can be applied to the c6? thanx.

I was wondering where you heard that the new 05 GT was 500hp, I just received the new Car and Driver magazine, and it said that the GT Engine was 300hp. http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?section_id=19&article_id=8687&page_number=3 I am not saying you are wrong but I am just curious where you heard that number. Also on car and driver website, I would check out the supercar challange, very awsome cars. But it is a real shame who won the challange, although i think they had trouble screwing the power to the ground on the Ligenfelter 427 Twin Turbo. But I don't know....I just know what I read

You have your cars mixed up here. The ford gt-40 is the car with 500 hp and not the mustang gt. They are two different cars.
From what I hear, a gt-40 would take a c6, but the cost is so far off. A gt-40 cost $150,000 right now but might drop down to $100,000 when ford starts to mass produce it. A c6 will cost $40,000. The c6 is the much better bang for the buck. Put $10,000 into a c6 and it'll smoke a gt-40, and better yet you'll save $100,000 doing it.
If you are talking about the new mustang gt by some chance no. A c6 would kill a mustang gt so badly it wouldn't be funny.

Yea, I never thought of the GT-40, I got passed on my way back from Idaho from NRA Nationals, I competed in this summer, I was in a 03 Chevy Minivan driving when i saw this GT-40 in my rearview mirror, so i went up to 90, and got into the right lane, then this GT flys by me doing like 110, I was like GOLLLL DAMN......I WANT ONE!!!!...but yea...theres my GT 40 story, It even had Michigan Plates on it, and I was in Idaho...how bout driving one of those cross country?

The gt is on a level with ferrari. The low end ferraris have trouble with this one. Corvette is the best bang for the buck out there hands down. It can to stiaght and go around corners very fast.

No the best bang for your buck is what i did. buy a 93-95 mazda rx7, then do a Ls-1 conversion, it will be faster than a zo6 and be about 1/2 the cost. you shoud do 11.4 1/4 mile with stock ls1 ,and it total cost for the conversion will be 11.5k and buy a rx7 with blown motor for 5500-7500 bucks. thats bang for your buck buddy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im curious... not saying that your wrong, but why would a heavier engine, messing up the weight distribution, with only about 30 extra horsepower (320 vs 350 [to my knowledge])slice away 2 WHOLE seconds?? Are you rebuilding this engine before you put it in or what. Again, just curious.
EDIT: You said stock, now I'm even more curious.

Oh, no doubt. I would take an Rx-7 over a Camaro in ANY race besides a straight line.
