Aright i have a 95 camaro z28 with 115,000 miles on her...i want more power but i dont know what i should do...i was thinking on rebuilding it since it has so many miles on it but rebuilds arent cheap...i was looking at stroker kits but i dunno...and i wanted to try and do the work myself but im not a mechanic...i was looking at turbos and yeah sure lots of power but....with 115,000 on my car already i dont think it could handle it...another options a new motor but thats not really much more power...what do you guys think i should do? and how hard is a stroker rebuild is it something i could handle?

rebuild your engine and convert it into the lt4

Hypsi , what kind of buick do you have ?

NOS it instead , Supercharging is only usefull for huge engines.

i would go with turbos not a super and nos would just blow my 115,000+ mile engine

Rebuilding an engine into a 383 stroker takes a lot of time and perfection , grinding or notching the crank. Either way if your not a mechanic , I don't suggest doing any of the work yourself. You might end up ruining the engine before you even start it. If you go with kit engines , you still have to install a distributor shaft and the rotation set up and then set that to timing. I'd recomend getting a crate 383 stroker with like 450 HP and take it to a shop , pay them like 200 bucks to put it in.

for that year of the car having that many miles on it , it must be driven hard and a lot. My 305 before I took it out had 146K on it and it was a 92 so I don't think going with turbos would be a hot idea either. You need intercooler , exhaust that can handle it , different injectors , etc..
You can get a engine premade with over 400 hp ( a 350 gm motor as well aside from 383 or a 512 hp 396. ) all over the place for about the same price it would take to put turbos into that thing. But then again if you want the cool wooshing sound like Hypsi has then go for it but..see you along side of the road with hazards on.

alright and how much does a crate 383 run?

You can pick one up for like 2K.* long blocked.

i'd go with the motor 1st and the turbos later if $ allows

After 400 HP in that car , why bother ?

i dont know where i'm going to find a 383 for 2 grand...its more like 4+....and why turbos after...well whats wrong with more power?

it's got like an hour left on it , you can go with a short block as well. That way when you build it up you know what you got , you see it for yourself and you can pick the parts you want on it. It's easy to assemble an engine that way. Just not when you get into areas like crank and valves. You should be ablke to handle mounting heads , headers , I-manifold , oil pain.

hmm...i'll have to start looking into that...thanks

how much work or how hard does this sound....take out my lt1...rip it down...take the block to a friend who will give it a bath...take the block to be bored over and face planned...take the heads to be rebuilt and maybe ported....put it all back together with new pistons ,rods, cam..maybe headers if i have the $....think i could pull that off? i've got a sweet book that goes through every step in rebuilding an lt1 and a couple of friends going to mechanic school...

You could probably pull it off. I personally wouldnt want to build my own complete engine myself because im too hard on them and would be worried. Its a fair bit of work removing your engine because of the lack of room and the amount of crap under the hood. I would just get my engine done at a shop by people who deal with them all day long.

My Lt1 has over 180k never had the valve covers off. Still keeps side by side with the Lt1's with 20k on them. Dosent use ANY oil, no problems so far with her

like model , engine , etc. And buicks come with 25 psi turbo ? o.O Nice white =D I got a pretty big cloud myself =)

231 CID. The turbocharger does not regulate the PSI, the wastegate does. I run 25 PSI on pump gas and 27 on race fuel. Here is a picture (Old pic with my small TA 49 turbocharger)

I don't know anything about turbo's really just the run off exhaust and force crap loads of air. So if I say something stupid don't hold it against me , I admit it when it comes to turbos =D

Thats cool. yea, the link for my engine pic now works. It is about two years old, now I have a bigger turbo and red wires instead of blue. I think I am going back to blue though
