Dodge Charger 8 second run!

I know what you're thinking, big deal. However, this is not the kind of Dodge Charger you're thinking of. This is a Dodge Charger from the 80s. I’m pretty impressed that the Turbo Mopars have broken into the 8s. He would have had a better time but he let off at the end. You should be able to figure why, and no he didn't blow the engine.

No, he didn't run in the 9s. His pass was 8.90, that's the 8s.

What does a pro-class 'stang run have to do with a turbododge in the 8's?
Polygon, you're letting the cat out of the bag about TD's!!
Cool as hell to see one in the 8's, though. Gotta love the looks I get when I spank a camaro or stock foxbody 'stang with the POS 'Tona.
No slips yet, but as soon as I get new axles I'm hitting Evadale, hopin' for low 13's. It hangs with the Cobra right now, maybe a carlength slower, so I shouldn't be too far off...

I didn't post this thread to post low 1/4 mile times. My point of this thread was that I'm very impressed with the common block engine. Also, to show some people that turbo Mopars aren't slow.
I might be letting the cat out of the bag, but hey, perhaps next time you will wonder if the four-banger Mopar next to you has a turbo-charged common block under the hood.

You don't sound dumb. Pretty much anyone outside of the turbo Mopar community doesn't know what the common block is. In the late 80s Chrysler was producing two different four-cylinder engines the 2.2L and the 2.5L. In 1989 they made the common block so the 2.2L and the 2.5L used the same block. The 2.5L also had a different crank for a longer stroke. The common block is a much stronger block as well. This is why it is highly sought after in the turbo Mopar community. If you want to make a lot of power reliably then the common block is what you need. They used the common block from 1989 to 1993.

OK, cool. If I ever happen to turn into a Turbo Mopar enthusiast, I'll take that into consideration...
