I drive an '01 A4 1.8T Quattro. Last week I noticed some squealing from the brakes. This week it is much worse (beginning to grind). When I got to work this morning I pulled into our warehouse, popped the passenger side rear wheel off to find I have absolutely no pads left. I assume the other side is the same. In any case, I need new pads and rotors. I do not want stock rotors because I have heard they warp under high temps. This was verified by my service manager at the local dealership. So any suggestions on new parts? I would like to do a full upgrade, but I dont have the $5,000+ in cash for that. Local speed shop recommended Zimmerman parts. Also should I go with cross-drilled rotors or just the norm. What are the ups and downs of both? Thanks in advance.

I haven't replaced the brakes on my A4, although I really would like to. I have heard good things about Brembo's big brake kit and also these http://www.speedoptions.com/articles/4641/index.php?pg=3 are a good cheaper alternative to the brembo's. With that you might be able to get some ideas of what works well. Sorry I can't help more.

ya i did i just bought ebc red stuff they are great cost me abotu 140 dollars al in all i put them in which is not too hard. performance wise they are great i dont know how good brembos or stop techs zar e but i would say the ebc go a long way towards that plus no dust unlike the stock audi brakes which are powderkegs. and i got front rotors for now however i got slotted since drilled are knows to eventually have fissures or sumtin like that due to the drilling so that is about 300 dollars right there and i have all the braking power i need
