Decision Time

I need to make a decision about buying a Lincoln LS. I have a SHO with an automatic that has cost me a fortune to fix. I really do not want to buy another Ford product that will come from the factory with transmission problems that Ford has no intention of doing anything about. Been there, done that, couldn't afford the T-shirt ;>)
SO, has anyone had problems with the transmissions in their LS's?. I could use some opinions about these cars.
Thanks
Bill

The on suggestion I think most will reply with is buy a manual preferable an 02 but 01 wouldnt be so bad. If you are in the market for the V8 the get 02 or higher. Run don't walk in the other direction if you happen across a beautiful 00 V6. Many folks have had great luck with car but I know from first hand experience what the dark side of that expeirence is.
I love my car and would buy another only if it had a Manual Tranny. Happy shopping; you are in the right market if you desire an exciting car to drive.

One way of researching is to look at FoMoCo. Try to find out if there have been updates to trans components. That is a sure sign that the orriginals are sub-par. For example I have a SVT Contour with the MTX-75 transaxle. Every internal component has been upgraded at one time or another, lots of problem areas. The Mustang T-5 I had remaind largley unchanged after the late eighties. The SHO was low volume, even when the flaws were found there are not enough cars out there to warrent upgrades. It sucks, but is a dollars and cents thing.
