You need a special scan tool and all the remotes to program it. I had mine done at the dealer and the charge was $15. The tool is way more than that. Good luck

i messed up the ones to my 1994 pontiac transport.i found a back box with a test button but i dont remember how i did it but i did get them working again by using this button.the dealer wanted like $30 or so.but if there only charging $15 now,i would go to the dealer.

I'd look in your owners manual. For my 98 I just held in the lock and unlock buttons for 10+ secs until the horn honked at me. Presto! an eazy fix!

Programming Cancellation The receiver will cancel the programming sequence if any of the following conditions occur:
The program mode is exited through the DIC.
The ignition is turned to OFF.
The three transmitters have been programmed.
The RFA system has been in the program mode for longer than 2 minutes and no transmitters have been learned.
If the program mode is cancelled with less than three codes stored, the receiver will only accept the codes just stored. If the program mode is cancelled before any code is stored, the codes still remain valid.
The receiver retains all current access codes in memory if either of the following conditions occur:
A programming sequence is interrupted.
The battery is disconnected.
