Okay... I call this guy up for a car, we talk for like 2 minutes about the car then he asks "Uhh... what nationality are you?" I'm like WTF!!! Why does that matter, then I hang up? Then yesterday, I call up a small dealership and I talk to them for another 2 minutes and the ask me "Are you spanish?" WTF!!! What's going on here! Has anyone else had this same problem or is it just me? I don't think nationality has to do anything with buying a car, right!

No, nationality should have nothing to do with buying a car. They canno't refuse to sell a car to you because of your nationality, there are laws against it. I say, next time you call a dealership, tape record your conversation and if they ask what nationality you are, tell them, see if they refuse you or change their mind about selling you the car. Wait a couple of hours, call them back and if they ask your nationality, tell them something different, and see what happens. Then you can use the tape recorded conversations for use against the dealership.

maybe you have an accent, and they are just being friendly or maybe they are asking because they may have somone who speeks your native lanuage and they tink you may be better able to communicate with them.as a waitress i have asked many people where they are from, not to be an ass, just to start a convo..one i had some ass tell "the USA", and the next time I had people tell me they were from poland, and we had some poland exhange students working, the couple was VERY to happpy to talk to people from the "motherland", and to actually speek polish. (and i got a kick ass tip)
