Upgrade exhaust on a Forester?

Hey there, has anyone had experience with upgrading the exhaust on a 97/00 Forester? Thinking of extractors and wider pipes say 2.5" and a less restrictive muffler. Looking for a wee bit more punch and a less hockey mum sound. Any one got advice?

[COLOR=black][FONT=georgia]I am currently waiting on a quote from TAS Exhausts, for a stainless custom exhaust for my Forester. We are looking at a few options, including after market extractors, straight pipes, double straight through Cats, and a straight through sports muffler. I will let you know the result when I get it back this week if you like. These guys are pretty professional, and know what they are talking about. Cheers Julian

FYI- The Forester is based on the Impreza platform. With minor modification to the exhaust hangers you should be able to have a muffler shop adapt an aftermarket exhaust designed for the 2.5RS. Companies like HKS, Tanabe, Cusco, Blitz, Espelir, Apexi, 5Zigen, Borla, AVO, and Greddy all make nice exhausts for the 98-00 2.5RS. You can even find an aftermarket header.
