Ok guys. I was wondering if any of you have had experience dropping a big block into an originally small block car (CHevelle, Nova, Camaro). I am doing this swap in my 71 Nova but I am running into some problems in the oil pan area. Now granted when I went to drop the motor in the car I was using the oil pan that came with the motor(truck oil pan out a 85 suburban) but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to which to buy. I was having a problem with the pan hitting on the frame. WIll a flatter "drag racing" (flat witha big square at the back) cure my problem? Any info would be sorely appreciated. Thanks

You might try the Chevelle pan. It is different than "big car" and truck. The crossmember is in the way. A call to a Chevy dealer or Chevy specialist can tell you whther or not the BB Novas used the same pan as the Chevelle. There were a few SS 396 Novas in '69/'70.
