RWD Civic

Ok, i currently own a 93 civic ex. i am also currently building a nasty b18c1 turbo motor for it (pics and spec to come with completion).:naughty: I know FWD cars have a bit of an issue with traction when a lot of power is put to it. So i thought of doing something a bit different. Putting the S2k drivetrain in my civic. One problem... Im not sure if the S2k tranny will bolt up to my S2k block. Now i know most of you are probably goin to think "why didnt he build a s2k motor?" Well, the answer if simple, i started building a mild motor which would only need minor mods to solve the traction issue, to coming into a bit of money:2cents: and building a nasty motor:banghead:. So im too far into this block to start over. Any advise would be awsome.

Thanks guys,
Jim

No the tranny will not fit to your GSR. Completely different series motor. Just beef up your suspension as much as possible (traction bar, good springs or coilovers, urethane bushings, etc) and get some nice sticky slicks.

Buy a RWD car and beef it up...:)

So, you're building a GSR motor, and yet didn't know that the F20C tranny wouldn't bolt to a B18C1? Nasty motor indeed.

well said.

No one will ever try to fabricate a drivetrain that will allow a civic to be awd.

Its just too costly.

who the hell thinks of this stuff? Why would you spend so much time and money on a rwd or awd conversion for a civic? The gain would be so minimal compared to the price.

It's unique. And if done right you can really high gains and get better ¼ mile times than any Civic. Take Stephan Papadakis for instance, he put a RWD conversion and uses an NSX motor in his '00 (maybe '01) civic and hit something like 6.8 in the ¼; might have been even faster. But with a FWD car the fastest you can get is into the 8's, because of traction issues.

:naughty: Which is very true for someone with a mildly modified engine. Except that im having a race motor built and i believe the benny's would out weigh the cost.

It's got to be damn expensive, especially paying someone to do it. If I had the $ I'd just do the RSX Type R swap, or do a cheap swap and buy a cheap RWD car

Yeh the hatchies. I just saw a 1990 hatch awd wagon. Its ugly as hell.

ridestreet84
10-29-2004, 03:17 PM
true they are ugly but using its drivetrain would prob be the easiest way to go awd or rwd

mellowboy

Yeh you can use the CRV awd. They've done the gsr awd before. Search on here and you'll find it. I'm too lazy to search ;)

People have made awd civics with turbo dsm engines, but we all know how reliable those are.. it's also been done with a CRV engine/drivetrain but I agree with the "just buy a rwd/awd car" statement.
