i have this problem with my 95 2.3 cav and i wanted to know i think found the coolant temp sensor. its under the coolant tank right? but arent there more sensors for cooling? like on the engine! i cant seem to find more then that and the fan spins when you start the car but then never comes on when your driving and then you might overheat please let me know anything at all guys. i also found i think the relays drivers side unerhood by the wiper fill up. what should i do? and if i should wire a toggle switch how do i do it?

The coolant level sensor is under the tank. The tempature sensor is on the engine where the upper radiator hose meets the thermostat housing. I have had this problem. change the temp sensor, then check the fan relay under the hood on the right side. the relay is less than $10, try a new one, if that doenst work. I would recommend checking the connections to the fan motor and changing the fan motor for about $30.99, you can change this yourself. Avoid running a switch, because if the fan motor is going out it will cause more electrical problems and burn up the toggle switches. Your car will run better and get better gas mileage if the fan works on its own and comes on at the correct tempature. If you need to know how to change the motor, let me know.

well, the Heater Blower Motor relay is the exact same relay, so look at that one, or switch it out to test it. Compare the numbers on the bottom of the relay where the connectors are, they should both be the same numbers. I forgot, thats the easiest way to see if it is the relay without buying one for nothing maybe. Check it out that way and let me know.

These cars run hotter than normal, the only time the fan will come on is when the temp reaches 195, which is 3/4 on the gauge, or the A/C is on. Turn on your A/c and see if the fan kicks in. The fan should not come on when the car is first started, that tells me its not functioning right, which is what my car did when it all started. I ran a direct connect to the fuse box, and blew it up, ran toggle switces, melted those, till i figured out the motor must be going bad, because when they are on the verge of going out they wil send out too much or too little volts, shorting out the relay and fuses or coming on too soon or too late. Is your car overheating when you are in residential areas, red lights, stops? When and how did you notice the fan was not working? Did you have a check engine light come on prior to this?
