if i swap the head from a 4G63 on my 64, what gains or whatever would i get out of that?

the swap is more trouble than is worth unless you turbo it. you have to plug a few oil ports, and reprogram your ecu.

if you turbo it though, its like making a 4g63 huge...the combination i heard of results in the 2g,
4g64 dohc engine, turbo'd 15psi and 92 octane and the guy ran the same time as that engine on his previous 4g63 w/ 30psi and race gas.......def. worth it w/ turbo

but what about the 4g64 engine being flipped around... wouldnt intake and exhaust valves be flipped too?

uhhhh, that would require more work than is necessary, you'd have to redo mounts to the frame and redo the transmission and driveline....not beneficial

the valves are still in the same place.

leave the stock head, it is fine the way it is. you'll already get good hp #s with johnny b's turbo kit.

this "thread" is old, i know ive read about this before somewhere on this site.

the evo 8 head is the 4g63 engine block. if you are going to put that much work into doing a head swap just sap the engine. the evo 8 will drop right into place. the tranny and everything else matches up. just have to change the electronics, and some custome exhaust work.

evo 8 doesn't drop right into place you have to redo mounts, get a working transmission for the engine, redo the drivetrain and isn't worth the work,

just find the dohc setup froma 4g63, ANY 4g63 from 1990 to 2005 in the eclipse GS(90-94) turbo Eclipse GST(95-99) or a scrapped (heaven forbid ) evo 8 (2003-2005)

the evo does line up with our transmission, and only one motor mount needs to be replaced. if you need the proof i can give you contact numbers to people that have already done it from the j-spec eov's.

alright. i looked, it does i was thinking of teh v6....:-/ eh still it is more cost efficient to turbo what you have than to swap in a 5k $$ setup when you can just use 4k and boost close to 300whp when the 4g63 will cost 5k or more to swap in and has only 250whp (evo 8 setup on fwd)

would i have to replace the injectors if i drop a turbo in my shit? if it do, how big would anyone suggest? also i heard from some kid that i would have to reprogram my ecu. would i and how would i go about doin this?

The EVO8 head will fit the 3G 4G64. Some oil holes will have to be filled in. As far as the ECU questions, this is not something that I have ever done, so I cannot say what needs to be done. But if you have invested that much money into your car for a turbo kit and DOHC head, I would suggest a Standalone engine management system.
