Anyone re&re a Blazer front differential

Just wondering if it is difficult to re & re a front dif on a 96 Blazer? I have a broken alum mount on the housing from a previous accident and the welder guy says he wants it removed to repair it. Does the engine have to be lifted? Looks like very little room.
