Road governor

I want to disconnect the road governor on a 2001 GMC Vandura (used Penske rental truck) that I recently purchased. The engine is a Vortec V-8. Top speed presently is 70 MPH. It is hard to pass anyone on the interstate with that top limit. I have been told that the governor may be "in" the truck's computer. Can someone help me?

It is probably governed by the computer chip. You can either swap it out for a different one, or yours might be programable. The easiest way would be to take it by a local auto parts store (like knech's, autozone, napa, etc) and ask them if they have a way to reprogram it. They usually do and it saves you from having to by the thing to do it.

the governor is right behinde the power stearing bottle and is inline with the throttle cable wensday i'm going to put on a new cable to see if i can by pass the speed governor

Contact Sturdy controls and see if they will tell you how to cut the module wires and which ones to reconnect together. That will bypass the speed control. Click on 89 Series Road Speed Controls
