2002 Expedition interior lights

hey guys.. Looking for a little help regarding my 2002 EB interior lights. I need to see if anyone knows how to keep the interior lights from remaining on when the back window is open. Even if the keys are not in the ignition all the dome lights remain on. Now if if have the keys turned foward one knotch after several mins they will turn themselves off. My issue is tailgating or whatever and i want to leave the back window open all my lights stay on including the running board lights. I have run my battery dead twice in 2 yrs with this.

A friend of mine has a 2004 explorer and on his he can turn the knob for the panel lights on the dash board all the way down to where it clicks and that works for him. When i try to turn it down it stops at the bottom (turning the dash lights all the way down) but wont click to indicate that it has been turned off.

Any help would be great..
