i dont know what to do now. it seems that when its old of the nights it does something to my truck. it got down in the 40's last night, when i left work at 2 o'clock last night my truck acted like it was hard to crank.
well i didnt ride it anywere this morning after i got up. i was ready to start it to go to work and all i got was a click. i tried again it tried to start but cranked really slow, i waited a minute and it fired right up
like nothing was wrong with it. i had the battery checked and there is nothing wrong with it, and also had the alternator checked it also is fine, so it has to be the starter, what do you guys think. and which side of the motor is the starter on? and how hard is it to change it. i dred changing it. a toyota dealer is asking $240 for a brand new one. but there is a starter shop in the area that will rebuild it for $45 should i just have it rebuilt? save the cash and will it last long after being rebuilt?

On the V6s it is on the passenger side. It can be a major PITA. I have a 2" BL so that made access through the fenderwell easy but there is not alot of room to fit your hands. The I4s are even harder to reach if I recall correctly. I'd just get it rebuilt or have someone look at it, it may just be a bad contact or motor. Good Luck. Cory

i have the inline 4 cyl. 2.7, well i was kinda thinking that there may be a loose connection cause it starts just fine sometimes. it was starting just fine all last week. i had problems before that. i have had this truck off road several times. but does the contacts just come loose like that.

The contacts can become dirty and just need a simple cleaning. :) Cory

ill take a look at them. i now when it rains around here there are big water holes that i run through on the road and its hard telling what damage that may do. i try and avaid them when i can but im thinking that may be my problem. it started fine today, but tonight it might not. it acts like its dragging.

my 2.4(same thing right?) is on the driver side, under the untake runners. intake has to go to get it out. sounds like mine, maybe your starter is going out. mine eventually stuck in the engaged(with the flywheel) position and had to have it towed....if it sumtimes "seems" to work fine, but definately sumtimes doesn't work fine, then i would seriously think about a new 1...BTW i put mine through 8 years of OREGON RAIN b4 i had any problem....
