I went home from college for the weekend and my family went to New Hampshire for the fall colors and the local hick fair. The fair was ok, lots of animals and cheep knives and crafty stuff but while I was wandering through the choped tracotrs/hot rods I looked down and noticed the guy in front of me had the but of a small revolver sticknig out of the back pocket in his tatterd jeans with part of the muzle poking out of a small hole, I laughed because I hadn't realized how rural an area we had a summer home. I was driving my 3000GT SL for probably the last time before it's sold (don't worry, I'm getting a VR4 before next summer) and the backwoods roads are soooo much fun around there, ups downs and all types of curves all in a senic setting by a river, and no one around! So needless to say I had a lot of fun driving around but I had a little run in with the police (he was probably the only one in 40 miles), I was at the only intersection for miles and decided to test my shifting skill with a bit of aceleration down the straight away ahed, so I flored it and got a good launch withought any weel spin and wound it up to 60 and thats where I started to slow down when I see that theres a cop behind me who just caught up and turned on his flashers. I pull over of course and he gets out and makes his way to my car stopping to check out the rear end and run his finger from the spoiler to the window. Apparently the 50' wide street with 40' of grass on each side with no houses or any buildings for that matter was a 35 mph zone...... I swear I've never seen a road like that that was under 55.. of course he gave me a ticket seeing as though I was technically going allmost double the speed limit (which should have been at least a 45 zone). I don't know about other states but in new hampshire going twice the speed limit only gets you a $115 ticket lol. So should I plead guilty, no contest, or innocent lol? Obviously not innocent because I can't get back to NH to go to court! Does anyone know the difference between guilty and no contest?

Hmm, I don't know off the top of my head, but a place you might want to check is the 'traffic voilations' part of this forum...it is listed under 'cars in general'
Also check out www.beatmyspeedingticket.com well since your not going back for court...this is probably useless...
With any moving violation the important thing is will your insurance company hear about it. (Might want to ask Gateway) But the $115 is nothing compared to what the insurance company will rape you for over the next few years if they hear about it.

If you pay the ticket then the points will go on your licence and your insurance will go up because of the points. If you go to court to plee guilty then you still get the points! but what you are supposed to do is go to court. You will not be send to a trial right away, first you will go through a pre-trial hearing. this is where they will offer you reduced fee, no point and no school. all you have to do is say "I accept". the courts are always full man, they offer you a quick way out so to avoid more cases and more paperwork. "no contest" means you are niether guilty or inoccent, you simply wish to disregard the trial and pay reduced fee plus court fees. I had my $220.00 ticket reduced to $100.00 last week .

damn, I am so popular these days!!! haha
1st of all, your insurance company will run your MVR (motor vehicle report) every renewal (usually 6 months or 1 year). Sometimes, if you get a ticket out of state, it won't show up on your MVR.
Each insurance company will charge a different amount, depending on many factors. I've seen speeding tickets cost someone $15 every 6 months more, and I've seen it cost people $200+ every 6 months. It all depends. Even if you cancel your insurance, it will still be there, it's not like you can hide from it.

Gateway, correct me if i'm wrong, but don't you have a few options so that the ticket will not appear on your MVR/driver's record?
At least here in TX, we can either do Deferred Adjudication or take a Defensive Driving Course. The former is just a 90 day probation period, with some extra fees. The latter is crap because in order to take the 6 hour course, you have to pay some fees for the course and get a copy of your driver's record from the state capitol, which is another 15 bucks or so.
But if you complete the 90 day probation period without another ticket or complete the 6 hour defensive driving course within a 30-day period (i think) then the ticket will not go on your permanent record...and therefore i THINK the insurance company won't hear about it.
I've done Deferred Adjudication twice, and Defensive Driving once, and not one of my 3 tickets have gone on my insurance. ( After the 3rd ticket, i was pissed, so i went and got a SOLO S2 radar detector...needless to say it has already paid for itself!) But i think you cannot do more than one of those options within 6 months of each other. luckily, my 3 tickets were spread out over a 3 year period.

yes some states (like texas) let you take DDC (defensive driving course) to wipe a speeding ticket from your record.

Ehh just thought that pic of me was realy dumb, and yea I guess I am promoting Sylvanya a little hehe, I think the arrangement of the headlights and fogs looks real mean. I'll probably take a new pic of myself and use it but untill then this will be it. And I highly doubt I'll miss my SL.
Damn I wish I could go on probation! I'll check out the NH laws but I have a feeling I'll have to be there for anything that'd help my case. I'd definately take a course but it'd be hard to get to NH from here and who knows if they'd let me take one here two states away. But what should I plead? Guilty or no contest?
