i'm getting 17 inch rims on my prelude with some perelli tires. The car is completely stock. Do I run into any problems with this? I know that the ride may be a little stiffer but anything other than that?

you're gonna need to drop it otherwise it will look funny.

why do you say that..there is more of a gap now with 15's then there will be with the 17's. Just curious.

yeah it won't look that funny. Granted I think it'd look better with a little drop, maybe an inch or so, but it's not gonna look bad...it'll look better than it does stock.

Then again, looks is really all opinion...

what gap does the car have stock, 4 inch? I would think that 17 inch rims are an improvement over stock.

the only thing you need to look for is your side wall hight, and you can see if your ride hight will change. Then you can tell from there if your car will look funny.

4 inches? yeah right, stocks dont have any gap...1 inch if any...the wheels were designed to fit and i measured the gaps that were on my 17s...3 inches in the back and about 2 in the front

when i'm talking about gap i'm talking about the emptiness in wheel well and right now with stock 15's theres a good amount. If i put bigger rims the empty space in the wheel well will decrease. Is this the gap your refering to,?

huh:confused: those 3 last post got me ... im officially lost:shakehead (personally i dont get how getting bigger rims would produce a bigger gap) am i missing something ??

thats the question i was asking, it doesn't seem to make much sense. If i were to put 17 inch rims on my car the wheel well will have less empty space because 17 inches take up more volume than 15 inches of wheel. thats the answer. So the car will look better with bigger rims compared to stock regardless of lowering the car

only thing i found out about reading this forum is black92ludesi said "...wheel well will..." and its hard to say that fast 3 times...the only instance that a bigger rim might make a smaller gap is if you were talking about a truck or suv that say had a 15 or 16 inch rim w/ a tire that had a 4-5inch sidewall on it. that would come out to be 19-21 inches or so...and then you put a 17-18 in rim w/ a low profile tire htats say 1 inch thick then you have bigger gap. But since preludes come w/ a lower profile tire anyways then putting a bigger rim w/ the same profile tire on it would decrease the gap....depending on what rim you got would depend on whethr it would look better lowered or not...i dunno about the 92-96 but the 97-01 can fit 19s and it looks pretty good not lowered but even better lowered....even tho i rim that size doesnt appeal to me on a prelude it still looked pretty good..18 is as big as i would go tho

the gap will stay the same w/ 17s and right size tire. looks funny when you have nice rims. lower it!
if you get a bigger tire, and the gap gets smaller, than your fine right? wrong! this means your ride hight will be higher, so you'll wanna lower it anyway!
