random grinding sound

ever since i had my tbelt and all the crap that goes with it changed 2 weeks ago, i've had a few problems.
first, the gatorback a/c belt squeeled like a bitch, so i changed it.
now, the squeeling is gone, but at random times something starts to grind. it's a high pitched, loud ass grind.
i think it's coming from the alternator, but not sure how to tell.

any ideas??

nope.
on mine, i drive 40 miles to school, and about 25 miles in, it'll just start randomly. it stops after about a mile or so. just randomly.

two things that i noticed yesterday...
first, when i was removing all my parts for powdercoating, i heard a similar noise, but only in small intervals. i think it was coming from the coil packs...the car was off, but the power was on so i could listen to my radio.
second, i jerked the steering wheel in the chick-fil-a parking lot and i heard the grind for a quick second.

i'm not sure if the coil packs make weird sounds, but i do know that ever since i had my drive belts replaced with gatorback belts, i've had squeeling, squeeking and now grinding.

i'm pissed.

i might have figured this one out.
we'll see later on today when i change my brake pads.
i'm about 95% sure that's what it is. i'll put on some cheapy autozone pads to see if it cures it. if so, i'll switch to...i don't know...

green stuff or metal master???
anyone???
