I use 24 gauge beading wire for fuel and brake lines, 20 gauge black coated beading wire for some of the bigger wires, and I have some smaller red and blue wires that I normally use for spark plug wires, but the stickers fell off so I don't know what gauge it is, probably 30; got it from Radio Shack.

Look for "wrapping wire" at radio shack. It's 30 ga, IIRC.

Or, if you don't mind a grab-bag approach, go the the 99¢ store and pick up a 6' phone cord. Inside outer outer casing are 4 wires: red, green, yellow and black. Sometimes opaque, sometimes translucent...

I find the wires from inside a phone cord to be too large for sparkplug wires, but they are great for other things. I use the black for spark plug wire boots, the yellow and green ones (or whatever color, and just paint it) for sensor harnasses and whatnot, and the red one for the heavy duty cable going from the battery to the fuse box/computer. If you're building a racecar, the uses for these wire expand tremendously. Phone cord is a great source of wires to be sure.

You guys shoud check out beading wire; there's a wide variety of colors and sizes, and it's cheap stuff-I think I spent $2.50 for 50 ft.

heres something i did while bored at work....seems with some time spent on detail it would make an authentic looking wireing harness.

I also use beading wire, I found it in the craft section of my hobby store. Very cheap compared to detail master wires. I picked up like 10 spools for 5 bucks. where as 5 bucks will only buy a few inches of detail master wire lol!.
