Rough running 1993 SE

This is my first maxima and I have had it for about 2 weeks now - LOVE IT!! It has 89,000 miles and is an automatic.
Here is the problem: Idling under load is rough and fluctuates about 500 rpm. Engine shudders when leaving a stop and keeps shuddering through about 3,000. The previous owner had 1 ignition coil replaced just days before I got the car. The power of the car is lower than what I anticipated and the mpg seems to be a little low at about 20 combined city and highway. Any advice would be great for things to try myself as well as if anyone can recommend a quality Nissan repair facility in the St. Louis area. All of the dealership mechanics are on strike here and I don't trust the "temps".

hey whats up...do you have an intake on it??? like a k&n air filter or anything??
