rattling

due to high milage I now have a rattling of the pistons in the block.Is there anything I can do to stop this noise?:bandit:

There's not much you can do except rebuild the engine.. or turn the radio up real loud. :p

Are you sure it's from the pistons? How many miles?

Are you sure it's "a rattling of the pistons" and not a "valve tap?" I can't imagine your pistons "rattling" and you still having a decent amount of power. Valve taps can be very common among high mileage cars and are usually easy to fix.

the lifters are sticking which is making a diesel sound but my car has 130,000 miles on it. I have a cd-2 formula that will take care of the diesel noise that I put in the motor oil. I still have a good amount of power eventhough the piston or piston heads are rattling or whatever is making the noise.

I think 130,000 miles seems to be low for a failure like this.

Basicly, there is no "magic" oil who can solve your problems. The only thing a can recommend is that you rebuild your engine.
But first do a check on the valves, are they hydralic?

If you don't find the problem there, check the pistons and pistonrings. If you find any damaged parts replace them. The bearings can also make these sounds so check them too.
Then buy a gasket kit and if needed, new bearings, then assembly.

the deisel sound is no problem. I know the reason for the sound is b/c the lifters(which I don't believe are hydrolic from the documentation that I have read about my car)sticking. Its not a "magic" forumla, all is does is help the lifters from not sticking. I'd do the engine overhall myself but I never have anytime, even for myself.

I figured it out folks...I was using too low of an octane gas for my car. I was using 87 when I need to be using 92 or 93. Now that Im using the 93 part of the rattling, and the diesel noise is gone. The other part of the rattling is due to the fact that I need to struts in front and a front left ball joint.

that rattling noise was a your engine pinging. or predetonaton caused by to high of compression for to low octane gas. If you have a tubo on you car, this will kill your motor fast. if this keeps up, retard the timing a little bit.

its running great now...I've been putting in 93 the past couple days

I finally found what the rattling really was and I got rid of it. It was the heat shield on my exhaust system just under my exhaust headers...
