95 RKE programing problem

my RKE's batterys whent dead, so i replaced them, then got the reprograming directions from ALLDATA, followed them to the T, grounded the termial in the trunk, the doors locked and unlocked, then the trunk release clicked twice, pressed the buttons on the remote, but the remote didn't program. i took the remote apart, tested the new batterys, good, retryed, nothing. i don't have a second remote to test with. any ideas before i buy a new remote?

This is not an answere but a followup. After grounding the wire what is the procedure of pressing buttons on the remote. Is there a length of time required. Thanks.

just wait til you here the locks and trunk click, then press any button on the remote, if you have more then one remote you most program all of them while it is in reprograming mode or the extra remotes won't work. remove the ground to exit programing mode.
