Seperate tweeters?

I am doing a complete overhaul of the stereo in my car (bought the car with stock rear speakers and some infinities up front) and want some really good speakers. I was looking at some fosgates for the front cuz they have seperate tweeters and none of the others I looked at did (I am buying from Best Buy cuz I work there). Is there a way to add seperate tweeters to speakers that dont come with em? I hate to have those little tweeter holes in my doors and not use them for something.

Well, you can buy 2 ways for the front (instead of 3 ways) and just buy seperate little tweeters, you'll need 2 crossovers though, one for each set of speakers.

Very good point!
Incidentally, a friend of mine had Clarion coaxials up front and just added a pair of tweeters (w/ crossover) up top on his pillars. So, you could that too...

I checked ebay but cuz I don't know what names to look for I had little luck finding good stuff. Any sugestions? (93 ex coupe). Also I really like the idea of buying from Best Buy cuz even if they don't have the absolute best stuff, I am getting a massive discount (usually somewhere around 40-70% off sticker) and I just worry about buying used and I am not one to do installs myself (I can check my oil, that's about it when it comes to cars, everything I hvae done I pay someone to do, yeah I know it's sad).

Thanx for the pointers, I will look. Actually the guywho sold me the car said he had infinities put up front already, I didn't bother to check cuz I didn't know infinities were a good brand. I will look when the car gets back from the shop (it won't start, I am betting I will end up paying my mechanic big bucks to find out the ignition cutoff is messed up).

oh yeah fosgate at best buy isn't real fosgate i forgot to mention!!!!
fosgate makes a special line JUST for best buy you can tell by looking at the model numbers.
a real RF amp should be like 400.4 and 800.2
best buy amps say 4000.IV and 800.II
best buy amps are a little crappier.. clarion did the same thing with them... that why best buy has the "lowest prices"

That is pretty sheisty!!! I can't believe a company with a reputation for quality would do something like that, that's pretty lame. Well still crappier fosgates sound like they will be better than xplods so I will probably still go for the ones from BB. Installying the crossovers and stuff sounds kinda nasty, specially since I don't think BB will do it. I will have to check in, thanx again for the responses though!

if u need cross overs installed.. its fairly easy to install them.

Really? Ok, maybe this is what I should have asked in the beginning, how hard is it to install these things, I don't even know how to get the door panels off. If I have them wire in some nice speakers can I just come back later, pop off the door panels and wire in some crossovers? Or should I take it to an audio shop to do it (in which case I may just buy the speaker package and run off somewhere else to do it). Thanks, sorry if I am asking really basic questinos.

what kind of car do you have? all you have to have is a place to mount the woofer and the tweeter and then somehow find a place to mount the xover. if you have a 6th gen civic... maybe i can help you. i would save your money and do it yourself. you'll be more proud when you're done

93 ex coupe. I would love to install them myself, I really like the idea of doing my own mods, but I am really afraid I will screw something up and I don't have the most time in the world either (work 2 jobs). I mean just laying in the new wiring (I am gonna get that really fat wire, like 1 guage or half or something) would probably have me tied up a whole day, but it's tempting. Doesn't wiring in a new system pretty much reuquire popping all the panels off and rewiring down the side of the car to get the wires to the back? And how big is a crossover? I suppose I could mount in a door or something?

1 gauge wire?!!! WTF? u only need about 16 gauge for components.. subwoofers that handle 1000 watts don't even need 1 gauge.
re wiring the speakers requires you to pop the door panels off (held by plastic clips) and reuired you to remove the existing speaker and replacing them with the new ones... also the cross over is small. and usually u can mount it behind the door panel (mine was about 2.5 inchs be 2 inches

Is there a guide as to where these plastic clips are and what's the standard way to remove them? Just screwdriver? Sounds like I risk messing up the door and paint while I pry away at it. Also won't the power window and lock switches be wired in making them hard to take out? I don't mind doing the electronic work (I am a computer nerd) it's just getting into and out of the doors that worries me.
Also I don't remember the guage size but it had to be about a quarter inch across. They said just get the biggest so later it wont be an issue if I Want to upgrade, and it only costs me like $15 for the cables so...
